Hatis Noit

Hatis Noit is a Japanese vocal performer from distant Shiretoko in Hokkaido who now resides in London. Her accomplished range is astonishingly self-taught, inspired by Gagaku — Japanese classical music — and operatic styles, Bulgarian and Gregorian chanting, to avant-garde and pop vocalists.  Her transcendent vocal interpretations deconstruct and recombine Western Classical, Japanese folk and nature’s own ambient atmosphere.

In 2018 Erased Tapes released her first enigmatic EP, Illogical Dance, an arresting 4-track record featuring a remix by Björk-collaborators Matmos.  Bespoke compositional work ranges from automotive films to forward-thinking art installations and live, improvised performances that include Milan Fashion Week.  She recently featured on Högni Egilsson’s score for the Netflix series Katla and is currently working on her next innovative album.
